JM: Beki, when did your interest in creating jewelry start?

Beki: I've always been creative and made pretty things. But I really got into jewelry a few years ago.

JM:How did you learn?

Beki:I just figure everything out by myself. I suppose that makes me self taught. :)

JM: When did you start selling your designs on eBay and do you sell anywhere else besides eBay?

Beki: I searched online for directions and figured out what supplies I needed. Then I ran to the bead store on our wedding anniversary, (my poor husband!) and bought everything. I came home and sat down and made myself a bracelet to wear to our anniversary dinner that night! It was this crazy urge that I NEEDED to start making jewelry and I had to do it right away. I'm not known for being patient. ;-)

I sell to a few local boutiques as well as www.crossthestreetdesigns.com .

JM: Do you remember the first item you sold on eBay?

Beki:My first piece on ebay was a ladies bracelet in ocean blue colors. It was a very pretty piece, but looking back on it, the quality was probably terrible! I think I got $10 for it and I was thrilled.

JM: Where did come up with your name?

Beki:I love to be pampered! And I think others should be pampered too. So I'm Beki, who pampers others, aka PamperingBeki.

JM: Do you belong to any boutique group?

Beki: I'm a member of Swank Boutique Swank Boutique. They invited me to be a guest on their premier launch and it just felt like a perfect fit so I never left! What I like most is the comfort level. I truly trust and care about the members and feel the same from them in return. I like being able to truly be myself. And I like that they put up with my sarcasm. ;-) I'm also part of a fun launch group called Misfit Productions.

JM: What are your favorite materials to work with?

Beki: I love natural stones!! You'll see them in a lot of my pieces. I like sparkle and bling as much as the next girl, but I love the uniqueness of natural stones. Many of my items are OOAK (one of a kind) because of the stones I use.

JM: If you could learn some new skills, what would they be?

Beki: I'd love to learn to work with gold. I think it would expand my horizons even more! I've considered learning to sew, and think I'd love it, but my husband would hurt me if my fabric obsession took off the way my bead obsession has.

JM: Can you tell us about your first job? How much did you earn?

Beki: Hahaha! I think my first job was mannequin modeling for a department store. I didn't even get paid! But got a discount on the clothing in the store. It was hysterical to watch people try to figure out if we, the mannequins, were real or not.

JM: What other things do you enjoy besides making fabulous jewelry?

Beki: Shopping. :) I love to shop for our home, and the two kids. We, as a family, also love to go to amusement parks so we do a lot of that for entertainment. Look out Disney! Here we come!!

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

Beki: Thank you so much for thinking of me and giving me this opportunity! I love your website and read it often.

I love your color choices and mix of beads, Beki. I also really admire that you like to figure things our for yourself. Keep those gorgeous designs coming... and don't completely give up on the idea of sewing. LOL
