1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

My mother enrolled me in 4-H in the 3rd grade and I have been sewing ever since! I remember my mother sewing ALL of my boutique-style dresses as a child…She passed that obsession on to me I guess! My sister is also an excellent seamstress and I have learned a lot by sewing with her too! I remember my first sewing project…a little yellow pajama set for me and a matching one for my teddy bear! I even modeled it at the 4-H style review…now that takes guts!!! As an adult, I was mostly sewing and creating for my home. After we had Anna my focus completely changed and I got "hooked" on the custom boutique world of eBay!

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

I have been seriously selling since January 2005. In 2004 I sold about 4 pairs of boutique overalls. I took a long break during a difficult pregnancy and decided to come back to eBay this past winter! I also sell to a local boutique called "Spoil Me Rotten". My sister and I do this together as the orders are always very large! Before the world of eBay I was a high school orchestra teacher. When I was pregnant with Anna I decided to stay home….shortly after that I discovered eBay and jumped right in!

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

Definitely! I made a pair of boutique overalls in a ladybug theme! The buyer sent me a darling portrait of her daughter in them! It is one of my favorite customer photographs! The overalls sold for $49.99.

3. How did you decide upon your name .

>When I started selling locally I was mostly making hair bows. As a professional violinist, I thought that "Take a Bow" was a cute way to incorporate both my passions! After I branched out into other boutique items I decided to keep the name!

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

I am not a member of an eBay group, although I am open to the idea. I think I have just been waiting for a great match….and working on building my client base and individual style! I have collaborated with other amazing boutique designers which has been wonderful and would love to be a member of a group that has similar goals and ideas!

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

Wow! That is a hard question! One of the things I love about eBay is the chance to try out MANY different styles! I LOVE fun and imaginative kid's clothes that have a vintage flair. I love vintage linens, reclaimed denim, and material used in unusual ways! Most of all…I love boutique clothes that are WEARABLE! With 2 little ones, most of my designs are made for everyday wear! We like to dress up everyday, but I hate to worry about trying to get peanut butter out of an outfit! I use fabrics that wash easily and have a lot of visual interest! I think one of the signs of a great designer is the ability to create in many different styles…this is something I strive for! I love lounge sets, boutique overalls, twirl skirts, and anything girly!!!

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers? Why?

VINTAGE ANYTHING! I love fabric with HISTORY! There is something very rewarding about giving new life to something "old". I also love reproduction fabric from the 30s and 40s! I love COLOR….and interesting combinations of color! I absolutely love rummaging through estate sales and garage sales for usable fabric remnants! I recently purchased an entire bolt of vintage fabric at an estate sale for $5! What a find!

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

I sew while my girls are ASLEEP…during naptime and after they go to bed! I have a corner of our downstairs family room devoted to all my sewing supplies! We are working on finishing off our "store room" and turning it into my own studio…I can't wait! There is absolutely NOTHING tidy about me when I am creating! I don't even try to keep things picked up until I am completely finished with a project!!!

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

Both my husband and I play the violin professionally. We play quite a bit for weddings and other special events. I play in a quartet that performs on a fairly regular basis. I love to shop and be "out and about" with my girls! We play at the park and visit the petting zoo often! We also really enjoy home improvement projects and have completely renovated our house. I love to decorate!

9.Anything else you would like to add?

I have really learned so much from being a part of the eBay community! I have made several amazing friendships and I'm thankful to those who have purchased my designs and those who have helped guide me along! There are so many talented people designing boutique clothing!
