1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

My mom taught me to sew when I was a little girl and bought me my first sewing machine when I was in university. I didn't use it that much, though, until my daughter was born. I was looking for unique clothing for her and was having a hard time finding just what I was looking for when I came upon ebay. The rest is history. Soon I found myself buying a serger, upgrading my sewing machine, and buying a huge stash of fabric and trims.

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

I started selling on ebay in the summer of 2002. I have considered selling elsewhere but love ebay, the customers, and the freedom ebay provides.

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

The first outfit I sold was a toile dress and hat set. I think it sold for $67.00 and I was thrilled!

3. How did you decide upon your name?

Cutie Kat stems from my daughter, Katja. It just kind of came to me one night lying in bed and my husband and I both liked it so it stuck.

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

I don't belong to any boutique group at the moment. I went back to work 4 days a week last fall and have been getting back into designing on ebay for the past month or two-I just couldn't stay away.

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

My favorite outfits are dress and pant/capris sets using cotton prints, ruffles, and interesting trims. I like my daughter to look like a girl and to have a unique one of a kind outfit for special occasions and I think a lot of my customers feel the same way about their cuties.

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers?

Oh, that's a tough one. I like all kinds of fabric from Amy Butler to Michael Miller. One of my favorites is high quality Egyptian white cotton-a blank slate for a great design, especially for summer portraits.

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

I have a sewing station set up at my house. It is organized but I wouldn't say it is neat as I always have some project in the works. I have so much fabric that I now have it organized by color and style in an armoire-it's sick, really!!

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

Well, of course I love hanging out with my family. Right now we're getting started on a major home renovation project-I do enjoy looking through all the home magazines and choosing things (but I'm not so sure I'll enjoy the process and mess of renovating!!).

Anything else you would like to add?

I would like to say thanks to all of my customers. I have met the nicest people on ebay and it truly makes designing fun. Ciao!
