1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

I learned the basics in middle school in home economics. And I sewed many flags for colorguard while in high school. I didn't sit down in front of a machine again until right after my oldest daughter was born. My mother in law is a great seamstress....she bought me my first machines back in 2000. She taught me a lot to get me started and then I was able to learn many techniques on my own. I first started sewing so that I could make cloth diapers. Five years later and I haven't made even one cloth dipe, LOL!

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

I started selling in 2001. I just jumped back in selling regularly about seven months ago. Right now I sell only on eBay and Blossom St. I'm hoping to have a shopping cart on my webpage some day in the near future. I also stay at home with my girls and work part time as the colorguard instructor for Navarre H.S.

Before eBay I worked behind the scenes in retail: accounts payable, receiving, store merchandising and visuals.

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

Yes, it was an all pink capri and halter set. It sold for the opening bid of $19.99. I wish I still had a picture.

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

In December, myself and three friends started the Gypsies boutique. We started out as a regular design group but then sort of evolved into something different. I like my group because we do all our launches planned with a guest designer and we try to center our theme around them. Our group is unique in that we have members from many other groups and all come together to list under the Gypsies on a regular basis. And the girls in the group are just a riot! ;)

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

I don't really have a favorite....I just prefer girl's clothing because I have girls! I'm actually working on my first boy's set right now.

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers? Why?

I work a lot with cotton but I love to throw other things in the mix too. Michael Miller, Alexander Henry, and Timeless Treasures seem to have such fun prints..... I find myself drawn to them often.

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

I use our third bedroom as my sewing studio. Before every project the room starts out pristine (I have to get myself organized to start) but halfway through the room usually looks like a cyclone has hit.

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

love the beach.....we just recently moved closer to it....only two miles away. Unfortunately hurricanes keep hitting and closing down the beaches for months at a time. We do a lot of "hometown" things like football games and festivals. I love my part time job....sewing flags, props and sometimes costumes for the girls, designing and writing a show.....I love seeing the finished product all put together.

9. Anything else you would like to add?

I want to thank two awesome people I have met on ebay......Kim and Hilary. You guys give me so much inspiration and drive to continue this venture....thanks for being great friends. The Gypsies girls as well....we just have so much fun. And thanks to Amy for this wonderful opportunity.
