Designer of the Week - George Gabrielle Couture

This week get to know Ning of George Gabrielle Couture.

JM: What inspired your business name?

NING: Well I got the name George Gabrielle in a dream, and I just thought that was the prettiest name I've heard. Since then I can't get the name out of my head, and finally when I start making my clothing line I used the name George Gabrielle. And the word couture behind it just to give clients an idea of what type of quality to expect with my garments.

JM: What kinds of things do you make to sell?

NING: I make mostly dresses, and once in a while suit jacket. And right now I'm working on a line of graphic tee and jewelry. My design aesthetic is minimalism, so most of my garments and design elements are simpler, cleaner lines and modern. I use a lot of high end runway / couture fabrics and adult silhouettes, but I always try to keep my designs fun, playful, and not too grown up for the little ones.

JM: Where do you sell your designs?

NING: Ebay, Etsy, and my own website www.georgegabriellecouture.com

JM: When did the crafting bug first hit you?

NING: I've always been pretty crafty since I was a kid, but just start to getting more serious about it when I was pregnant with my daughter.

JM: If you could learn some new skills, what would they be?

NING: I like learning new stuff, and I'm very interested in learning how to do knitting, scrapbooking, and to polish my draping skill.

JM: What do you enjoy doing when away from crafting?

NING: I love doing artwork, painting portraits and pin-ups are my specialty, I did this long before I learned how to sew, and I'm still doing this once in a while. I also LOVE shopping, who doesn't, and sometimes just have a relaxing me time by having nice bubble bath with my favorite music on the background, and my fashion magazine and a chocolate bar next to me, lol :).

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

NING: I'm also the leader of an ebay group consisting designers, buyers, models and just everyone who loves boutique world, the group is called Haute Couture For Kids, we have over 500 members and growing. We even have our own blog: http://www.hautecoutureforkids.blogspot.com/.
