JM: Natalie, when did your interest in jewelry start?

NATALIE: I started making jewelry about a year ago. I started out 3 years ago making baby bows for craft shows, then ebay. I fell in love with all of the beautiful designs I saw and thought "I need to learn to make that!".

JM: How did you learn?

NATALIE:The first bracelet I made was at a local bead store. It was a beautiful bracelet for my mother in law for Christmas. I then made another bracelet at a different store for a gift. After that I pretty much just practiced at home!

JM: When did you start selling your designs on eBay and do you sell anywhere else besides eBay?

NATALIE:I started selling on ebay 3 years ago but only have been selling jewelry for about a year. I own a website www.karliqcouture.com and have sold to some local boutiques. You can also find my items on theathleteschild.com.

JM: Do you remember the first item you sold on eBay?

NATALIE: I remember the first polymer clay bracelet I sold. It was a gingerbread man bracelet and I think it sold for like 15.00. I was so thrilled!!

JM: Where did come up with your name?

NATALIE: My daughter's name is Karli. Originally my business name was KarliQBows. My friend Melanie came up with the name when she was helping me make bows. When I started making jewelry and selling other items on my website I decided to change my name to reflect all Boutique Couture.

JM: Do you belong to any boutique group?

NATALIE: Yes , I belong to a fabulous group of ladies called D2MA . When I started making jewelry I applied to the group and was accepted. I absolutely love them! They are very talented in many aspects of boutique creations. I appreciate their support for one another and ability to help each of us grow as designers.

JM: What are your favorite materials to work with?

NATALIE: BEADS!! LOL Really I just love all kinds of beads, lucite flowers, sterling silver components!

JM: If you could learn some new skills, what would they be?

NATALIE: I would love to do sterling silver soldered jewelry. I just haven't since I am so busy with the kids and the custom orders I currently have! I also am totally in love with photography. I have a constant hunger to learn more and more about how to improve my skills.

JM: If you could travel anywhere, where would that be?

NATALIE: Scotland and Australia. My gramdmother is from Australia and we have family there. We have a strong heritage that is Scottish, my uncle was a piper, my Aunt a highland dancer, and now my daughter take Highland Dance from a friend of the family, Holly who is also a boutique designer.

JM: What other things do you enjoy besides making fabulous jewelry?

NATALIE:Photography, Scrapbooking, my side business ( Purse Parties), spending time with my kids and husband.

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

NATALIE: I am completly honored!! Thanks so much to my online friends, customers and my girls in D2MA. I appreciate all of your support!! Also thank you to the wonderful designers who have used Karli as their model, we truly love your designs and enjoy working with you!
