JM: Lisa, When did you get started creating bags?

LISA: About 4 years ago.

JM: When did you start selling your designs on eBay and do you sell anywhere else besides eBay?

LISA: I started about 4 years ago when I became a stay at home Mom. I have sold to several boutiques in the area, will be selling online soon at the soon to be launched Confetti Kids. I'd like to have my own website in the near future though.

JM: Do you remember the first item you sold on eBay?

LISA: I unfortunately don't have a picture of it anymore, but I think it was made from barkcloth, and it was pretty basic, just a flat purse with straps, I think it sold for around $25.00 or so.

JM: Where did come up with your name?

LISA: The name came to me pretty easily, I was trying to think of something that would capture in a phrase what I was all about, Pink Lemonade Boutique : Fun, Refreshing design. Nothing serious and conventional.

JM: Do you belong to any boutique group?

LISA: Yes, I recently joined the Boutique Jaynes , they invited me with open arms, and really have made me feel welcome. I admire their creativity, I love the fact that there is such diversity among them, some have a soft vintage style, some have a fun, spirited style, but all are very, very talented and have such a high level of professionalism and craftsmanship. Most of all, they are kind, considerate and just plain nice people. Oh, and we laugh alot! It's alot of fun.

JM: What is your favorite type of bag to create? Why?

LISA: Oh, boy, that's a tough one. First of all, I have a really short attention span and get bored easily. I love making something for the very first time, the creative process is probably the most enjoyable part of the whole thing for me. As far as what is my favorite, it varies, I would say at any given time though, I love to incorporate quilting, which is my first passion into whatever bag I'm doing. I love patchwork, and applique, and I'm a bit obesessed with flowers. I have to say, doing the little girls bags for our recent launch was so much fun, though. I'm going to be doing more of that in the near future.

JM: If you could learn some new skills, what would they be?

LISA:I would like to learn how to machine quilt proficiently. I know the mechanics of it, but am not very good at it, with the exception of just straight line quilting. I'd love to learn how to do free motion quilting. I could incorporate that into my bags in a very unique way.

JM: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

LISA: I'd love to take an eco-vacation, to the rain forest. Before it's all gone. But I also really enjoy luxury, I saw this travel program where you stay in a 5 star resort that borders the rain forest in Costa Rica. That's the best of both worlds I guess! OR I'd want to go the Paducah quilt show in Kentucky! heaven....

JM: What other things do you enjoy besides creating?

LISA: I love to read, cook, spend hours in book stores and coffee shops, and dine out for ethnic food with my husband.

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

LISA:I'm going to be doing alot more creative things with my bags in the near future. I used to think it was important to make what was super popular, what was selling like hotcakes on ebay, I used to spend alot of time investigating other auctions to see what was "commercial". I really didn't enjoy doing that as much as I enjoy doing what I personally love, what is authentic to me. Now I think, okay, this is different, this is wacky and unique, but if I love it, chances are someone out there will too.

Lisa, you know I love you and I can't tell you how many people have stopped me to inquire about my bag. I have to admit that I am a bit snobbish about my bag and enjoy the envious looks I get from others.
