JM: Cecelia, when did you get started making jewelry?

CECILIA: I became interested in creating jewelry approx. 7 yrs. ago after my first grandson was born. I had my own pattern company for over 20 yrs. and designed around 130+ patterns and marketed them all over the USA and in some foreign countries as well. However, when I was designated "full time Nonna" for my sweet little grandson, I had to put my pattern designing on the back burner. As he got a little older, I found I was no longer that interested in pattern designing after over 20 yrs. and a friend showed me how to make a simple bracelet. I got really excited about jewelry making from that one bracelet and just totally ran with it, learning about gemstones, new techniques and trying whatever I could to come up with new and fresh designs. I'm still learning new techniques whenever I can.

I learned the basic bracelet technique from my friend several years ago, but have since taken classes and learned on my own, from books and lots of trial and error when I get a new idea.

JM: When did you start selling your designs on eBay and do you sell anywhere else besides eBay?

CECILIA: I started selling on ebay about 4 or 5 yrs. ago. I've lost track of exactly when I started selling. I also sell on

JM: Do you remember the first item you sold on eBay?

CECILIA: Actually, the first item I sold on ebay was a Smoky Quartz necklace that my son-in-law purchased from me (before he was my son-in-law) for my daughter. I didn't know it was him because he bought it under his ebay ID which I did not know at the time. It was all very secret. He was trying to help me get started selling and buying my daughter a gift at the same time. It sold for $28.00.

JM: Where did come up with your name, Mon Ami Jewelry Designs?

CECILIA: I'm stuck with my ebay seller ID and would like to change it, but it seems like a real problem to change it. However, my jewelry company name Mon Ami Jewelry Designs Jewelry Designs just came to me about 6 yrs ago. Since I feel that the gift of creativity is something that is truly a gift that is bestowed upon us, that things like my inspiration and direction, the name, etc. are from that same source.

JM: Do you belong to any boutique group?

CECILIA: I was just invited to join the 7&Co. guest launch group this week, but have not participated in any of their launches yet. I'm very much looking forward to being a part of that group. I'm sure that I will love being a member of that group, as I am very familiar with the quality and design of their items, launches, etc. and I look forward to meeting the members too.

JM: Do you have a favorite material to work with?

CECILIA: My favorite materials to work with are: sterling silver, silver art clay, genuine gemstones, crystals, vintage findings and glass.

JM: If you could travel anywhere, where would that be?

CECILIA: I would probably travel to England. I would love to see all of the beautiful architecture and everything there. However, since I don't really like to fly, I'm not sure if it will ever happen.

JM: What other things do you enjoy besides creating jewelry?

CECILIA:I enjoy my grandchildren, my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Gracie and spending time with my husband. I also like to sew and crochet on occasion.

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

CECILIA:I love what I do and am grateful that I am able to do what I love.
