1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

I started sewing about a year ago. I wanted to make some pillows for my couches. My friend Morgan said she would help me make the pillows. We made pillows, those turned into curtains, which turned into clothing. Now, I design and sell children's clothing on eBay.

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

I started selling my designs on eBay in November of 2003. I am currently going to college and the University of Houston. I originally started selling clothing to pay back my student loans. I am going to graduate in June of 2005. I have grown to love and enjoy sewing so much that I am going to continue to sew and sell clothing even after I graduate from College.

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

I do remember my first outfit I sold. It was called "Flower Power". That had to have been the most popular outfit I sold. I still have people emailing me and asking me if I can make them. I remember Morgan had worked with me every time I would sew something. One day I told her to just let me do it on my own from start to finish. I designed this outfit and sewed it all on my own. This outfit was so cute. There were so many people who liked it that I did many custom orders for it. It was sad the other day when I actually had to tell someone I was officially "SOLD OUT" of it. The truth is if I filled all the requests, I would never be able to make anything new.

3. How did you decide upon your name .

How did I decide on my name, that is good question. I just really like polkadots. Originally, I was going to make children's clothing, and my friend was going to make adult clothing. We started out being the mama polkadot and the baby polkadot. We were partners together as The Polkadot Place. Then, Morgan decided that she was going to sell children's clothing also so I became the*polkadot*place and she created her own id.

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

I am currently not a part of a group however; I am looking for a great group to become a member of. I think being in a group is important so that everyone can build friendships and share ideas. Groups make it seem like you have a family with eBay.

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

My favorite things to great are lounge sets. I love lounge sets in bright, vibrant colors. In my opinion, lounge sets are cute, yet comfortable enough that they can be worn anytime and not just on special occasions.

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers? Why?

My favorite fabrics are stretches, poplins, polkadots, anything bright. I also love the designers Michael Miller, Alexander Henry, and of course…Amy Butler.

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

Well, this is a good questions. I have not worked in a year so I have just gone to college full time. While I have not been working, I sew whenever I can. I say whenever because when you are in college, your schedule changes so often that you have no schedule. I am going to start student teaching this semester so I am going to be sewing at night or on the weekends. I am definitely a very organized sewer. Everything is put up and organized, so when I need something, I can put my finger right on it.

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

Besides sewing, I love children. I am going to be a teacher and I am very excited to get to spend that much time with children. Also, anyone can ask Morgan, I just love her daughter to death. Anyone who didn't know might think we were family I treat her so well.
