1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

When I was in fourth grade, my sweet Grandma May purchased a blouse pattern and some fabric for me as a birthday gift. Also included in the gift were sewing lessons, so everyday after school I rode my bicycle to her house and she helped me make my shirt. I remember it as being a lot of fun and believe to this day she is the one who sparked my interest.

I sewed off and on until I left for college, but my true passion for sewing didn't start until after I was married. My first married Christmas I got an old Singer machine as a gift from my mom-in-law that was nearly identical to the one I grew up using ~ I was elated! I actually still have that machine and use it occasionally ~ it's my trusty machine that I will probably never part with.

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

I started selling my clothing designs on eBay this past January. I mostly sell on eBay, but also accept custom orders and have a few items in my online store too.

Before eBay I was a stay-at-home mommy and before I was a mommy, I worked in a bank.

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

Yes, it was a chenille "prince" overall and it went for $42 ~ I was excited beyond words! And now I look back at the photo and can't believe how far my photography skills have come since that first auction ~ I definitely still have a way to go though too!

3. How did you decide upon your name?

That was actually really hard for me (just ask my hubby!). I really wanted a name that depicted classy and have always called my children my "lil punkins", so I just married the two ideas and came up with Posh Punkins.

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

Yes, I belong to The Boulevard design group. The group was formed by myself and a some fellow eBay designers/friends and has grown to 18 members.

I think what I like most about being in a design group are the friendships I've formed, but I also like being able to bounce ideas off of others too. I feel like being part of a group has helped me grow as a designer and come out of my shell a bit.

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

I love to create boy things. I am so tired of what is available in ready-to-wear for little boys. Does everything have to look like "little big boy" clothes (what I call clothing that looks like something you'd see on dad, but in miniature size)? I do sometimes create "gifty" types items and older girls sets, but my heart is definitely into creating items for little boys.

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers?

Oh goodness, I can't possibly pick a favorite! I'm really drawn to many different styles of fabric so choosing is very hard ~ honestly, I just LOVE fabric!

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

I do all of my sewing in my studio (which is located downstairs in our home). I really like things neat, however it does get very messy while I'm creating, so at the start of a new project I must tidy things up or I'll go insane.

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

I enjoy spending time with my hubby and children. I also love to scrapbook and bake (please don't read cook here, read bake ~ LOL).

Anything else you would like to add?

First, I'd like to thank Amy for inviting me to do this interview ~ I feel so honored to be featured at JM! Also, a HUGE thank you to my customers ~ without you Posh Punkins would not exist.
