JM: Rashmi, When did you get started creating bags?

RASHMI: About 4 years back. I started with making a basic diaper bag when I felt uneasy carrying those plastic diaper bags that came in standard patterns and prints when my daughter was born. I kind of liked what I made and from then on it just became my fancy.

I was taught to sew by my granny at a very young age. While my other cousins always made excuses to get away for learning and I didnt,I got her undivided knowlege and attention and became her favorite grand-kid.I am so thankful to her.

JM: When did you start selling your designs on eBay and do you sell anywhere else besides eBay?

RASHMI:I always made gifts (quilts, handbags, throws etc.) and sold among friends and relatives and one of them introduced me to the idea of selling on eBay around a couple of years back.

I am an Interior designer by profession and chose to give it up when my I decided to be with my baby and travel with my husband due to the nature of his job. Designing and selling on eBay is my passion and keeps my creativity vibrant and alive.

JM: Do you remember the first item you sold on eBay?

RASHMI:I clearly remember my first sale on eBay. It was a black and white Jamestown Toile home decor fabric diaper bag that sold for $25. It got me so excited. Unfortunately its picture is just in my memory now.

JM: Where did come up with your name?

RASHMI: The name "Purseona" was chosen by my husband around a year back, when I finally thought of branding myself and getting serious with eBay.

JM: Do you belong to any boutique group?

RASHMI: As of now I do not belong to any group, but I look forward to being in one in the near future.

JM: What is your favorite type of bag to create? Why?

RASHMI: I love creating womens handbags the most, because it gives me the opportunity to infuse personality - chic, spunky, fun.... and other various moods. My bag turns out to be a reflection of my mood, personality and like how I am feeling while I am making it.

JM: If you could learn some new skills, what would they be?

RASHMI: I was very much into quilting much before I made bags. It is an expertise that I picked up with no formal training or advise, simply by reading and practice. The only thing left to master are those mighty long-arm machine quilting giant machines and I would love to do that someday.

JM: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

RASHMI: I would love to visit the beautiful landscapes of the Swiss Alps.

JM: What other things do you enjoy besides creating?

RASHMI: Enjoy time with my family, love to cook, watch movies and eat Chinese Food.

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

RASHMI: I am really thankful and honored to be featured as a designer. I have found a whole new world on eBay. This gives me the oportunity to connect with and reach out to so many wonderful people and friends, with the convenience of being at my home all the time.

Last but not the least - This eBay venture has just begun. And would not have been possible without the support and push of my darling husband and many friends. I hope to keep designing and creating with all your support and love.
