1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

I've been sewing for as long as I can remember! My mom was so creative and my sister and I use to challenge her by bringing 5 different Wedding Gown/Bridesmaid Dress catalogs to her and asking her to create that perfect dress for the Prom with a sleeve from this one, a bodice from that one, a skirt from another one, etc! She is a very talented lady and always managed to create our dresses just as we'd envisioned. She taught me mostly everything that I know. I've picked up a few things on my own but owe most of my skill to her - THANKS MOM!!

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

I have been selling my designs on ebay since 2002. I also sell out of a local store here in my hometown. They have been kind enough to allow me to set up a kiosk within their store. My website is under construction as well. Prior to ebay, I was a work at home mommy doing marketing for a few small firms here in Minnesota. Needless to say, I certainly enjoy boutique designing a lot more!!

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

I believe this was the first ensemble that I sold on ebay. Looking at it now, my little niece was my model and now she is so grown up. She has handed down this set to my daughter now who is two and Kayla loves it too!! I can't remember how much this one sold for though.

3. How did you decide upon your name .

The story behind my name is kind of cute. A friend of mine use to call her daughter her little rutabaga and when her daughter would say it, being only two at the time, it would come out Yittle Rutababa. So, from that, came Rutababies!

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

Currently I am not affiliated with any specific group.

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

I like to embellish so I think that my favorite thing is to create a set using unique fabric and then go on the "hunt" for the perfect embellishments to coordinate with it.

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers? Why?

I'm fond of bright colors but I think fabric texture can make a great difference in whether a set "pops". Of course everyone likes chenille!! I also like to create from cottons with fun prints and patterns. It is so hard to find fabrics out there that are unique so that is the fun of it for me!

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

Most of my sewing SHOULD be done in my sewing room but lately I find myself at our kitchen table as my sewing room is definitely not the neat and tidy room that it started out as!! I do have bins for my fabric but when I'm on the search for the perfect coordinating fabric, they tend to become a little less than organized!!

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

My kids are my life so I enjoy spending as much time with them as possible. My oldest started preschool this year and I am already having to face that he is growing up fast!! I also knit which I find relaxing but I am not the kind of person who can sit in front of the TV without having something to do so that is why I started knitting. Now I can spend time with my husband yet not "fidget" as he says, because I have something to do.
