JM: Pam, When did you get started creating bags?

PAM: I made my first bags 8 years ago, giving them as gifts and selling them locally in a boutique. I have been sewing most all of my life, but took a break during my 20s. I started sewing again when I was pregnant. That lead me into the world of heirloom sewing & smocking. Quite by chance, a group of friends from an heirloom sewing board decided to do a Tote Bag Swap among members. I participated in the swap and that essentially started my Ebay venture with creating and selling Boutique Bags.

JM: When did you start selling your designs on eBay and do you sell anywhere else besides eBay?

PAM: I can't remember NOT selling on eBay. :-) I've been an eBay member since 1999 and did lots of buying at first. I've been selling bags since 2002 or 2003, I believe. I do have a website, www.sewgracious.com which links to my eBay store. I selling exclusively on eBay right now, but hope to expand my website in 2007.

Before eBay I was a SAHM. I feel blessed to be home now as a WAHM so that I can enjoy the best of both worlds....staying home, but also working from home.

JM: Do you remember the first item you sold on eBay?

PAM:

JM: Where did come up with your name?

PAM: > I actually had the name SEWGRACIOUS before eBay. In my life BBB, Before Boutique Bags, I made simple chenille jumpers for girls and tops for ladies. I also made the lace-trimmed socks that were so popular in the late 90s & early 2000. I did craft shows and boutique consignments with those items. When I was doing that, I needed a simple name that was easy to remember. I wanted it to reflect what I did, but also I wanted to incorporate Grace's name in someway. My husband and I brainstormed and I came up with Sew Gracious.

JM: Do you belong to any boutique group?

PAM: I am a member of BoutiqueBLU: Bag Ladies United . We got together in 2006 after meeting each other on other boards. We decided to form a small group mostly for friendship, but we also enjoy doing occasional launches to reflect our originality & creativity. I love BLU because we all create bags and above all, we are great friends. We support & encourage each other in our eBay efforts as well as for the events of "real life". I am also a member of several discussion boards on eBay and occasionally am asked to participate in guest launches with other Boutique Groups.

JM: What is your favorite type of bag to create?

PAM: I like to create any bag using new fabric! :-) I LOVE fabric so it's always fun to put together a new combination.

JM: If you could learn some new skills, what would they be?

PAM: I would love to have formal voice training. I've always enjoyed singing, but I would like to improve my skills. I would also like to learn more about creating templates, HTML editing, etc. I have created my own templates & graphics for eBay, but would love to expand those skills and learn more. I would also like to learn more about photography, knitting & quilting.

JM: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

PAM: I'm pretty much a homebody. I would rather be home than travel. I do always look forward to our annual beach trip. For "places I'd like to go someday", I would choose California wine country, Washington DC, Italy & Australia.

JM: What other things do you enjoy besides creating?

PAM: I love to spend time with my family. They are my top priority.

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

PAM: I would like to thank Amy for asking me to be the JM Designer of the Week. I would also like to thank my wonderful customers who have shopped with me through the years. It is because of them that I am successful in my work.
