1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

I tried to sew and create as a child, we lived overseas and did not have electricity most of the time & my Mom bought me a childs singer sewing machine that was battery operated. The first clothing I made was my wedding dress, I don't know what possesed me, it took me 3 months and I had to inlist the help of lots of freinds & family to teach me how to read a pattern etc. It came out great and I have made more wedding dresses since then for friends. I have also been sewing for my daughters for the last 18 years.

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

I have been selling on ebay since 1999 BUT I did not sell any of my designs until last October, I was not even aware that there was a whole boutique childrens clothing community out there. I currently do not sell anywhere but ebay.

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

The first set I sold was a scarecrow costume I made for my son. He has eczema and I was trying to find a scarecrow costume that did not have anything itchy touching the skin. I designed a scarecrow that had only cotton touching his skin and figured there were more people out there with babies that would have the same need. Yes I have a picture of it on my "ME" page. I believe it sold for around $40.

3. How did you decide upon your name .

When I got my first computer I was afraid to use my real name on anything so I signed up for everything using my cat's name "yourky" . My Mom gave me yourky as a kitten and before I picked her up on a trip my Mom would call me and say "your kitty did this...etc " and so "your kitty" got shortened to your ky and became her name. Huggles and Fiffles is a family joke. Huggles are "hugs" in our house and fiffles is really the word "Giggles" that I always mistype since I have nerve damage in my hand and the "f" key is right next to the "g" key on the keyboard. My husband started sending me gifts from "Huggles & Fiffles Inc" as the return address, so I thought it was a cute name for my children's clothing.

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

Yes, I am a new member to Coterie. I like that their motto is family first!

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

I love creating costumes and home decor, I think that is because my Mom was an interior designer and decorated model homes and I went along with her. Both my parents were Ice Skaters and I always loved seeing the costumes created and it rubbed off on me.

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers? Why?

I LOVE M. Miller, R. Kauffman and Alexander Henry! I love vintage and retro designs. Since I do mostly boys things they have the best prints for little guys!

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

I do some of my sewing during the day but most of it at night, my afternoons are hectic with teenagers and a toddler! I recently got my own sewing room and I have been pretty neat and organized, with the exception of threads on the floor!

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

I enjoy traveling, painting and redoing furniture and restroring our historical home.
