JM: When did you get started sewing and creating?

SHERI: I've been sewing ever since I can remember. I used to trade babysitting for sewing lessons, because I wanted to learn to sew so... bad. It's something I was born to do, I think. I just love to sew. I really started sewing after having my first child, but when I kept having boys, I took a break. Then my last baby was a girl, and I went crazy sewing for her. I was so excited to start sewing for a girl again. After she was born I would stay up super late sewing. I love to sew late in the night. No interuptions, and it's quiet.

My oldest daughter, Madison, has been a big influence on my creations. I was always asking her for her opinions and it has got to the point with some outfits where she designed the whole outfit so I decided it would be fun for her to have her own line (Maddibrooke Designs). She's more natural than I am, she'll think outside the box. It's super fun for us to work together.

MADISON: I don't really do a lot of sewing but I started designing when my mom would ask me questions about the outfits she was working. I love to create new ideas.

JM: When did you start selling your designs on eBay?

SHERI:The first outfit I sold on eBay was June 2005. I only sell on eBay, it keeps me busy. Before eBay, well, I just kept having kids, lol. I've always been blessed to stay at home with the kids.

MADISON: I don't sell on ebay but my mom did give me my own line (Maddibrooke designs) for the outfits that I completely designed.

JM: Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay?

SHERI: Yes, I do. The first week I put up 3 auctions. They were all 4 piece sets that sold for $60 each. I was thrilled.

MADISON:Yes, the first outfit that I sold was a red, blue and pink outfit. It was just this past February. It sold for $167.

JM: How did come up with your name, Sweet Amie & Maddibrooke Designs?

SHERI:My youngest daughter's name is Amber, we call her 'Ammie' all the time. I wanted a name that had some significance, and so decided that 'amie', which means friend in French would be perfect. Sweet just seemed to fit with 'amie'.

Madison: My family is always calling me Maddi Brooke so it seemed good to me.

JM: Do you belong to any boutique group?

SHERI:No, I'm not in a group. Madison and I are partners though, does that count? lol

MADISON: I just help my mom out with her stuff.

JM: Do you have a favorite item to create?

SHERI: I love to create anything girly. I love ruffles, frills and lots of details. My favorite type I'd have to say is heirloom sewing, which I don't get the chance to make very often, but you will see the influence in my clothes and fabrics. Ruching, pintucks, ooh, I just love it all. There's nothing more beautiful to me than a little princess all dressed up in a classic heirloom dress.

MADISON: Really frilly, ruffly dresses or skirts.

JM: If you could learn some new skills, what would they be?

SHERI: I would definately learn better photography skills. I want to take some classes, and really learn how to capture my children's personalities with the camera. They grow too fast.

MADISON: I would like to know to sew. Sometimes my mom doesn't make the outfit 'exactly' how I want it made. lol

JM: What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

SHERI:Being with the family. I especially like watching the boys play baseball. I can pretty much tell you every play they made (or didn't make, LOL) at the end of the game.

MADISON:I love just being the typical teenage girl! lol

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

SHERI: Just want to say how much fun I've had making new friends, both designers and customers. And thank you, Amy, for asking me to be 'Designer of the Week' - it's an honor! Mostly, I want to thank my family though, they're supportive and I'm grateful for them.
