1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

I started sewing in 7th grade home-ec. I was pretty much the only one that took the sewing portion of the class seriously and just loved it! While everyone else wanted to do the easiest stuff they could get away with, I was doing pants with pockets, shirts with cuffs, etc. I continued to take various advanced sewing classes in high school and then continued sewing as a hobby, learning to design and create by mixing patterns and creating from scratch. I put it aside for some time until my Little Britches venture came along!

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

Before Ebay I designed for myself only and for a few select friends. I then started designing for Ebay in Feb or March of 2002. I also manage the ododboutique.com website so I sell there as opposed to my own website (since I would not have time to manage 2 sites) and I drop ship from several online boutique sites as well. I have sold wholesale to various brick and mortar boutiques, but stopped doing that until I could streamline my designs so they aren't so time consuming.

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

Yes - I started with Hanky dresses with matching diaper covers. My first was a blue floral dress that sold for $25.25. The shabby chic patchwork overalls were the big hit though and came along shortly thereafter.

3. How did you decide upon your name .

When I first started selling boutique clothing on Ebay, I had a business partner… we both brainstormed one day while in the car as we were shopping for supplies! My family has always called my son 'Little Britches' and that just ended up being our favorite - we wanted something that wouldn't be too girly so we could offer boy's and girl's clothing.

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

I belong to ODOD (Original Designs by Original Designers). I was asked to join this group shortly after it's creation over 3 yrs ago - I had never even heard of it, but I knew I would be honored to be associated with them, and still feel that way. I love the creativity, originality, and coh

esiveness of the group - and above all the professionalism. Everyone has such mutual respect

for each other and is serious about their businesses - it motivates us all to continue to come up with amazing, groundbreaking ideas and everyone contributes what they can. And we don't pressure anyone to do anything they can't or don't have time to do - nothing is mandatory. Yet everyone is so self driven that we never have a lack of participation in any group activity. They all inspire and amaze me daily.

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

OH man - this is hard. Overalls have always been my 'bread and butter' so to speak, but I'm really enjoying creating ensembles with unique fabrics and embellishments… I just love to create, though, and pretty much create based on my mood. I almost always use texture and 3D elements in my designs, especially my overalls. I love embellishing because it transforms a plain item into something (hopefully) amazing.

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers? Why?

I love vintage and retro fabrics, but since I reproduce more designs than I used to, I don't buy vintage as much. I love bright, bold colors and prints so I buy across the board - don't really have a favorite.

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

I'm a total disaster… my sewing studio does not have the storage units for my fabric addiction, so I have overflowing bins all over the place. It's awful and makes me crazy, as I'm pretty organized by nature. At least I have my own studio now though - makes it very nice - and it's set apart from the living area of my home so nobody has to see it but me! I sew in the am, at nap time and at night after kids are in bed.

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

I have a graphic design background so I very much enjoy layout and design and use my graphics skills whenever I can (or can find the time). I also enjoy scrapping, digital scrapping and pretty much anything creative, though I don't have time for much of this kind of thing any more. And I so love taking care of my family and having family time.

9.Anything else you would like to add?

No, other than THANK YOU for giving me the opportunity to share a little bit about myself to the Ebay community.
