1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

I guess I started sewing out of necessity! I was a typical poor college student living off of Ramen noodles working as a teller in a bank. The bank wanted you to dress like you had money, but wanted to pay you minimum wage. Lol So I started sewing basic dresses for myself. I later went on to sew clothes and costumes for my friend's children. I became the "Costume Queen!" When I had children of my own, in addition to costumes, I also taught myself to smock and hand embroider. I started sewing more traditional and heirloom clothing. This was all before I discovered the "boutique world" of ebay! My mom is kind of like my silent partner. While she didn't teach me to sew, in a sense, she did teach me to design!

As a little girl, we used to sit on the couch and draw "princess" dresses together. Some of my designs are directly from her "princess" drawings! She doesn't even own a computer but she loves to help me with design ideas!

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

Dandelionavenue was formed in November of last year. Currently, ebay is the only place to purchase our designs. However, we will be selling on a website in the near future.

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

The first set that we sold as dandelionavenue was called "Holly Day Splendor." I believe it sold for $91.

3. How did you decide upon your name?

? I think all children love blowing dandelions and making wishes. I was driving down the road one day trying to think of a name when I saw a bunch of dandelions on the side of the road and decided it would be perfect! I think they represent the fun and innocence of childhood.

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

Yes, I am a very proud and relatively new member to the design group Act1. Joining a group was a very difficult decision. I decided to join them when Melissa, cute_as_a_bug won one of my sets and called me. She told me about the group and asked if I would like to join. She was so nice and they have so many talented designers, I couldn't resist. They all have their own styles and strengths but they make a marvelous team. They have been very friendly and helpful. It has been so fun getting to know them.

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

I love heirloom and vintage styles. As you can probably tell from my pictures, I love overdress and petticoat sets! I just find them so versatile and charming. I love soft, romantic styles. Once in a while I will get a yearning to design something fun and whimsical but it is the girly girl and heirloom styles that I love so much!

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers?

I just love big vintage looking floral prints! I love Moda, Michael Miller, Alexander Henry, etc. I also love vintage finds! I love the challenge of making something out of an interesting tablecloth, doily, sheet, etc! I also have a weakness for Swiss embroideries, batistes and other heirloom fabrics.

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

I took over the guest room and turned it into my sewing room. If I ever did have a guest, I'd probably have to send them to motel as I it would take me a week to clean it! Lol. You cannot even see the bedspread for all the fabric and half finished projects and fabrics scattered all over it. I really would like to be neat and once in a while the urge will hit me and I'll clean and organize all day….but it doesn't seem to stay that way for long! Please note, that the rest of my house is immaculate. Ok, well, maybe not immaculate, but clean and orderly! :o)

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

I enjoy volunteering at my children's school and being active in their little lives! I so enjoy spending time with my sweet hubby and family. I also love going to the beach, singing at church, baking and trying out new recipes!

Anything else you would like to add?

Of course I would like to thank you, Amy, for giving me the time of day! I really appreciate this opportunity. Thank you to my customers and everyone who even looks at my auctions!! A huge thank you to my mom for her inspiration. Thank you also to my buddy Michelle, you're the greatest!!! Most of all, thank you to my Lord Jesus, without Him, I'd truly be nothing.
