1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

My mother sewed most of my clothes when I was a child and although I never really remember being “taught” , I always watched her. I began making my own clothes the summer before I went to college.

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

I started selling my designs on eBay 3 years ago. I began selling in boutiques over 30 years ago, I owned an Antiques, Decorating and Design Business.

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

I really do not remember the first one, but I did several Capri sets that sold for about $26.00.

3. How did you decide upon your name?

Forgotten Dreams was the name of my Retail Business that started in 1979. My sister lived in Scotland and shipped antiques to me for our shops in San Antonio, Houston, Boerne, and New Braunfels. We specialized in antique linen and lace. I was widowed when I was 34, so my shops, that started out as a part time hobby, became a full business for me to support myself and my two elementary school age children. I remarried 14 years later and began selling antiques from my shops on ebay under the my retail business name, forgottendreams. When I began selling my children’s designs on eBay , I thought that the name Forgotten Dreams sounded a bit melancholy for a name for children’s clothing so we named our clothing line Whimsy Dreams.

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

I am a member of ODOD, Original Designs by Original Designers. I was invited to join when the group formed in August 2002. I enjoy the professionalism of the group and the diversity of the specialties.

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

My love for the antique and vintage linens and laces that I sold in my retail shops has been the inspiration for most of my designs. Although I prefer the classic designs, I try to offer a variety of styles and price ranges for different tastes in clothing and budgets.

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers?

Vintage and Antique Linens and Lace, Silk, Velvets, Faux Fur

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

I have a workroom, but bits and pieces tend to creep into other rooms of the house. I work by pulling out a multitude of fabrics at a time and several designs at a time. I create the designs as work. I would love to say that my workroom is completely, but that is only a dream! I sew all day and all night a lot of the time.

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

My family and grandchildren

9. Anything else you would like to add?

I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of Journal Modiste and thank all of our customers for choosing to dress your children in our clothing. We are honored to be a small part of your lives and to have your children add their beauty to our designs.
