JM: Robin , when did you get started sewing and creating?

ROBIN: I cant remember exactly how old I was....lets just say a long time ago ... Home Ec class in Junior High School! Much of my inspiration came from my Great Aunt Skeeter, who you can read about on my ME page!

JM: When did you start selling your designs on eBay?

ROBIN: I started selling on eBay sometime in 1999....but I was selling misc stuff ....I had no idea there was even a boutique world out there until I stumbled on it one day! (my life hasn't been the same since!)

JM: What did you do before eBay?

ROBIN:I worked as a paralegal and also part time cruise consultant.

JM: Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay?

ROBIN: I cant remember my very first outfit or what it sold for. Actually, when I first jumped into the "boutique world" I was just selling burp cloths & blankies... then started doing Womens embellished jeans/overalls ....and later along came my granddaughter who inspired me to make some fun, little people clothes so she could model for me.

JM: How did come up with your name, "nanabobana!"?

ROBIN:I was rocking Zoey when she was a tiny little thing and singing the name game song to her....I was just going down the list of names.... "Zoey, Zoey, bo-boey" then came me... "nana nana bo-bana" ...I liked it, so it stuck!

JM: Do you belong to any boutique group?

ROBIN: I'm a member of The Boutique Rebels and will celebrate my 1 yr anniversary with them next month! What a great bunch of women! We love, support & care about each other and share the good, bad & the ugly things in life....we are all like family! I like that we are all on the same track as far as what our group is about..... of course we would all like to grow our business, but friendship is the number one priority!

JM: Do you have a favorite item to create?

ROBIN: I like funky, functional clothing for kids... cuz kids will be kids and I think they should be comfortable and like wearing the clothes. I was mainly doing sets in my granddaughter's size for her to model.... now that my grandson is old enough, I have been having lots of fun with boys wear! I also love to design OOAK Halloween costumes...fairies...witches...clowns etc!

JM: If you could learn some new skills, what would they be?

ROBIN: This isnt a new skill, but I would like to spend a little more time quilting. I actually started a twin size pieced quilt for Zoey shortly after she was born, but I still havent gotten around to finishing it! I need to do that and also make one for Chaz too..... I want them to have a little "piece" of nannie to have and hand down to their little ones too so the legend of "nannie" can live on as my Aunt Skeeter lives on!

JM: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

Right now it would be anywhere sunny & warm!

JM: What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

ROBIN:I love cruising, fabric shopping & of course spending quality time with my family.

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

ROBIN: I was so flattered to be asked for an interview.....thank you Amy for this wonderful opportunity and really making my week!

Do you have a question that you are dying to ask Robin? Comment about something she said or designed? Post it here and she will answer it!
