JM: When did you get started sewing and creating?

RICHELLE: My maternal grandmother and I were very close and she taught me cross- stitch and hand embroidery when I was little. I made many a pillowcase with her, several of which I still use. By the time I was around 7 she was turning me loose on her sewing machine unsupervised. I can't imagine letting my kids even touch mine at that age! I hope when my daughter is old enough to learn that I have half the patience my Mimi must have had to teach me...LOL! I taught myself to quilt shortly after my oldest son was born, and still enjoy making them for friends and family.

JM: When did you start selling your designs on eBay?

RICHELLE:My eBay journey started shortly after I saw the cutest diaper bag hanging in the nursery at the YMCA. I wanted one for my daughter, and started searching on eBay. Not finding exactly what I was looking for, I decided to make one, and then friends started asking me to make them for baby showers, etc. I started selling them on eBay myself about a year ago, then began selling clothing a few months later. I was in the military for 8 years, and when I got out to be a stay at home mom I felt like I needed to be doing something productive. Designing boutique clothing allows me to spend time with my kids and be creative and productive at the same time. I have the most fun with clothing, so I decided to concentrate on doing that.

JM: Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay?

RICHELLE: The first outfit I sold was a cowgirl twirl set. To my shock and utter amazement a lady purchased it through a Buy It Now for $75.

JM: How did come up with your name, Richelle LeAnne?

RICHELLE: I sell my children's clothing under the label Googamollies. My grandfather was always giving us kids nicknames...my sister was Ishkabibble and I was Googamolly. I don't think he ever called us by our actual names. When I was trying to come up with what to call my clothing, Googamollies just seemed right...fun and unique and it reminds me of my childhood. When I Googled it I came up with absolutely nothing, so that's when I decided it was perfect.

JM: Do you belong to any boutique group?

RICHELLE:None at this time but I would love to guest launch with groups.

JM: Do you have a favorite item to create?

RICHELLE: I love to make girly frilly dresses. My daughter loves to wear them and it's such a great feeling to see her eyes light up when I've finished something and she gets to put it on for the first time. If it makes her feel like a princess then it's a sure hit! She is always browsing through my fabric and bringing me the ones she likes best. Besides clothing, my single favorite thing I have ever made was a "deployment quilt" for my husband. It has pictures of us and the kids, and appliqued squares with his favorite sports teams and things all over it. It's a little piece of home that he can take with him when he's on a submarine for months at a time.

JM: If you could learn some new skills, what would they be?

RICHELLE: My paternal grandmother tried teaching me how to crochet when I was little, but we never got past a single chain. Every time I visited her I would make the longest chains but never knew what to do with them! A few years ago I managed to teach myself to make a few potholders, but I would like to take it back up in earnest and be able to incorporate crochet into some of my outfits. I also plan to take smocking classes in the very near future.

JM: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

RICHELLE:I have traveled enough, having been in the military and also being a military spouse. I would love to move back home to Oklahoma or Texas where I grew up and where my extended family is, and stay put for the rest of my life.

JM: What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

RICHELLE:Spending time with my children first and foremost. I have been a bookworm all my life, and I love gardening. It does seem that the only thing that grows well in Tennessee is cotton and weeds, so it's been an uphill battle to keep my flowers alive...LOL! We're moving to Hawaii next year so I should (hopefully!) have much better luck growing flowers there. :)

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

RICHELLE: I am so honored to be a Designer of the Week, thank you so much for this opportunity!
