JM: Bethany, when did you get started sewing and creating?

BETHANY: I got my start creating at a very early age. My mother and grandmother both sewed and could make ANYTHING...coats,clothing,home dec.... you name it. I was always drawing/painting/embroidering/sculpting. Sewing was a natural next step in my creative journey. It's the one skill that has remained a lifelong passion. I am grateful for their lessons.

JM: When did you start selling your designs on eBay and do you sell anywhere else besides eBay?

BETHANY:.I started selling on e-Bay about 1 year ago. I have sold by appointment as well as to local boutiques from time to time but for now I am concentrating on selling on e-Bay...I love it!

JM: Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay?

BETHANY: I remember it was a shabby chic style cross-back jumper with lots of embroidered edges. I do have a picture. I think it sold for $24.99 if my memory is right...I was tickled pink! My model had just lost her front teeth and looked too cute:)

JM: Where did come up with your name, Ruby and Ida's?

BETHANY:My e-Bay i.d. (ruby_and_ida*s) came from the first names of my two grandmas. Ruby was the seamstress who sewed such beautiful clothes, she was always getting asked "where did you buy that?" She also was a southern lady who never left the house without a hat. Ida was all about her children and grandchildren...she was super lovey and very down to earth always reminding me to stop and smell the roses. I hope to incorporate the unique gifts they gave me in each item I create. 5.I do not belong to any group at this time.

JM: Do you belong to any boutique group?

BETHANY: I do not belong to any group at this time.

JM: Do you have a favorite item to create?

BETHANY: I don't have any 1 thing I like to create-What really gets my juices flowing is some beautiful fabric/trims. After that all kinds of lovely pictures start to dance in my head as I begin to picture the final product.

JM: If you could learn some new skills, what would they be?

BETHANY: My desire to learn how to better use my computer-that's a skill I'd like to learn more about. Ahh, but then that would take time away from sewing...which is why I haven't yet learned.*sigh*

JM: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

BETHANY: Hands down Paris. I've been twice before when I was younger...and I'd go again, and again.

JM: So what other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

BETHANY: .I have recently discovered knitting. I'm doing more and more photography, which I love. But at the top of my list, spending time with my two guys who have been endlessly supportive. Love you guys bunches. xo

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

BETHANY: .I would like to say thank you to Amy for the chance to have this interview. A big thank you to my family. Many thanks to dear friends who have been tirelessly helpful esp. with my endless computer questions. Thanks to my sweet models who are so great to work with. And especially praise to God -with Him I can really do ALL things.

I LOVE your taste! :P It is soo awesome! I have a little girl that will soon be 11. It is extremely hard to dress her is chic fashion, especially in the midwest (Iowa). I am way into the huge flowers *grin* and a hat for EVERY occasion, although my hair is waist length and I can't find any to fit my head so Katie is the "hat person" in the family even though her hair is also extremely long! I have fallen in love with the little coat dress with the brown fur trim around the hem that is featured on your interview page. Would you be interested in creating another one? Keep on doing such great work! Your clothes are beautiful! Jonna Reed Corydon, Iowa
