1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

I started sewing when I was 9 years old. I grew up in rural Montana and all the kids were in 4-H. My sister and I didn't want to raise livestock, so my mom taught us yeast breads and sewing. We were sewing so young that we used to get in trouble for "speeding" on the sewing machine!

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

I started selling on ebay in May 2002. It was on a whim that I went to an antique flea market and the rest is history! I sell to about 10 boutiques, mostly in California…and I have a website www.littlejewelz.com. Was there life before ebay?? I was a first grade teacher.

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

I took all the gorgeous vintage linens I had bought at the flea market and sewed patches on overalls. Those were my first outfits. I do have a picture of one of my first designs. I think it sold for $25!

3. How did you decide upon your name?

Little Treasures was born out of my user id…treasurehunter76. Before selling boutique clothes, I was a garage sale addict. I gained the nickname 'treasurehunter,' so that became my user id. I didn't want to change it, since I had good feedback, so we just found a name that went with the id!

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

I belong to the pixies. I started out in the group last September…we've taken a break and now we're back with new members and better than ever! J

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

I don't know if I have a favorite thing to make. I suppose it's whatever I'm working on at the time…it's like asking me who my favorite child is! All my outfits are labors of love!!

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers?

Again…no favorite fabric maker. I tend to use fabrics that speak to me! When I look at a fabric, if I can envision a style of outfit, it's coming home with me! Although, Amy Butler can do no wrong when it comes to fabric.

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

I am lucky enough to have my own sewing room. I am a semi-messy seamstress, but my friend Monique, gave me the cutest sewing pillow that inspired a major clean-up in my sewing room. So now the goal is to keep it tidy…to display my wonderful pillow!

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

Just about anything domestic! I love to cook and entertain my friends. My husband is a pastor, so we constantly have people over and I just love it! I'm always up for a project… whether it's giving new life to an old chair or painting signs for an event!

Anything else you would like to add?

I have made so many friends who inspire me to do my best. I am honored to be part of such an amazing group of designers and honored to have customers as wonderful as you are!
