JM: When did you get started sewing and creating?

CHELSEA: Almost 12 years ago when my husband and I were first married we lived in the basement apartment of his aunt and uncles house. I remember going upstairs one night into her dining room where she had these beautiful curtains. Each panel was made of 2 different contrasting fabrics. There was a matching table runner and in the living room she had tons of coordinating pillows. As I walked around her house, I noticed that each room was decorated differently with all these amazing and colorful fabrics. When I found out that she made it all, I was aweuck. So I decided to take a class in college. It lasted one semester and basically I learned how to thread a machine and I sewed myself an outfit. I got a B in that class. After that, I taught myself how to do the rest, asking lot's of questions to my aunt and mother-in-law and looking on line and in books.

JM: When did you start selling your designs on eBay?

CHELSEA: I started selling on ebay close to 3 years ago. Before ebay I worked independently in interior design. I did alot of sewing for people's homes and my own home. I cam across ebay boutique one day while looking for headbands for my baby girl. The first thing I saw was a pair of Halloween overalls selling for over $200. I was totally amazed and decided to give it a shot. Right now I sell on Ebay and Blossom Street in the waterfront.

JM: Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay?

CHELSEA:I do remember my first outfit! I decided to make my own cute little pair of Halloween overalls. It sold for around $70.

JM: How did come up with your name, Vintage Chic Boutique ?

CHELSEA: My name was originally LollypopLily. I named it after my daughter and one of her favorite treats! For the first year and half that I designed sets I was just dabbling and trying to find my style. About a year ago I decided to really go for it and throw all of my ideas, feelings, and passions into my designs and make them more like me. LollypopLily didn't really fit my style, so I came up with a name that did. I love vintage things. Vintage fabrics, clothes, furniture, and jewelry. I have alot of vintage jewelry from my mom and Grandma. But I also wanted to keep it modern and edgy, so I decided to call it Vintage*Chic Boutique. It seems to fit:)

JM: Do you belong to any boutique group?

CHELSEA: I belong to BonBijou. I started this group with my friend Amie from Princess*Picasso about a year ago. We were in a group together previously and we decided we would try starting our own. What I love about my group is that everyone is friends. It is a very supportive atmosphere. Everyone is willing to share what they know to help make each other better. Those girls are there for me rain or shine, at 12 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning.

JM: Do you have a favorite item to create?

CHELSEA: I love to create pant and dress sets. I have some vintage dress patterns that I especially love to use. I really enjoy coming up with fabric combinations and the process of piecing it all together. There is nothing sweeter than a pair of flare legged pants with a funky little dress made out of all my favorite fabrics! When it's all done and on one of my daughters, I just makes me happy!

JM: If you could learn some new skills, what would they be?

CHELSEA: As far as designing goes, I would love to learn how to draft my own patterns from scratch. Sometimes it's hard to come up with things that are original. The most original sets I have seen have been drafted by the seamstress. I'm starting to learn how, but I still have a long way to go. I also need some photography skills. Not only does it help out when you list to have amazing pictures, it's really fun to be the one who takes those pictures. Outside of designing, a new skill I am learning is how to Salsa dance with my husband. It is really fun and we get to spend time together doing something we both enjoy!

JM: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

CHELSEA:EUROPE! I am dying to go anywhere in Europe. I love the history that is there. All the old buildings, good food, and the accents! I love to listen to a British person talk! They sound so sophisticated.

JM: What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

CHELSEA: I use to play competitive tennis when I was growing up. I haven't played in awhile, but I would really like to start playing in some womens leagues. I also love to watch movies, go out to eat with friends, go to movies, read, play with my kids, and dance. Oh, and let's not forget shop! I am a shopoholic.

JM: Anything else you would like to add?

CHELSEA:Thank you so much for featuring me. I think this is a great website with so much information that is helpful and fun to read. I remember when I was new to ebay and I couldn't figure out what a group was. I was directed here and I not only found out what a group was, but everything I needed to know about ebay boutique! This has been a real honor for me.

Do you have a question that you are dying to ask Chelsea? Comment about something she said or designed? Post it here and she will answer it!
