1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

I am pretty much a self-taught seamstress although my grandmother and mother have sewn for years but like everything else I prefer to figure it out myself. I even tried a class in high school but didn't take kindly to the craft. I always had the urge to create and always wanted to create things for children after years of sketching and wishing. I finally took the plunge last year and here I am. This month one of my outfits can be seen in a magazine ad! I just can't believe it...I'm so happy I decided to give sewing a try.

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique) What did you do before eBay?

I started selling clothing in July 2003 and fell in love with it. I had sold a couple reborn dolls before but it was nothing like selling clothing to me. I think it felt different because it was a dream I had always had in the back of my mind and it felt like I had achieved one goal in my life. Besides selling on Ebay I also sell clothes directly off my website. What did I do before Ebay? I guess I was doing what I am still doing, running a home daycare, c reating everyday and keeping busy with online projects.

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

My first outfit was a pair of painted daisy baby shortalls. Unfortunately they didn't sell but I still have them to remind me how far I have come. I find it amazing how much an artist grows in just a short amount of time. And yes I still have the picture. I'm a pack rat when it comes to my photos.

3. How did you decide upon your name?

Well that's an easy one. I am a big fan of The Lord of the Rings so I wanted that similar sound for my name, something you would find if you went shopping in the Shire. The Shire to me represents childhood. It's just basically a simple, fun, happy and carefree lifestyle which is the definition of the ideal childhood.

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one? How did you get started in that group? What do you like most about your particular group?

I don't belong to any clothing groups at this time.

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

My most favorite thing…hmm that's a bit of a harder question but I'd have to say anything that challenges me. I'm always up for a good challenge I think it keeps me motivated.

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers?

Well I've been working with chenille a lot lately so I'd have to say vintage chenille. Babies look so sweet in them. As for designers…pretty much whatever catches my eye and trips my fancy.

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing? Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor!

Thankfully I have a sewing room so I can keep all my things from spilling all over the rest of the house. Though I do leave a trail of threads wherever I go. I don't have fabric on the floor but sometimes I think the floor is a magnet for my pins and threads. I like to have things somewhat organized but I find myself forgetting that in the middle of a project so it can be a bit chaotic looking in there when I'm on a creative mission.

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

I love to read, watch movies, dabbling in graphic design, and playing with photography.

9. Anything else you would like to add?

I'd like to thank everyone who has purchased a Bucklebury Row outfit and everyone who has been so supportive in my endeavors the past year. My online and offline support team are the best cheerleaders anyone could ever have. Thank you, girls!
