1. When did you get started sewing and creating? Who taught you?

Wow, it would have to be 2 years ago or so. My sister showed me the basics and I took it from there.

2. When did you start selling your designs on eBay? Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? (example, web site, local boutique)

Do you sell anywhere else besides eBay, if so where? I only sell on eBay and We don't have boutique shop's, that I am aware of, that sell on consignment.

What did you do before eBay? My sister & I had a business selling primitive works. We did all the woodcutting, sanding, painting…everything, ourselves. Our items became too high in demand and we just couldn't keep up so we decided it was time to do our own thing. She went on to quilting and I, eBay.

2a. Do you remember the first outfit you sold on eBay. Do you have a picture? What was it and what did it sell for?

Yes, it was my Peppermint Kisses Set. Last year I called it Peppermint Euro Twirl because it was a European pattern….hehe. It sold for $150 last year.

3. How did you decide upon your name?

That name comes to honor Chloe. When she was born we were told she may have Down syndrome. When telling a specific family member, there was concern with how she "looked". While making a photo album filled with beautiful picture's of Chloe her daddy made a little verse inside the book that says "Some of the strangest creature's in life turn out to be the most beautiful things in the world" Well, caterpillar's are strange looking creature's and turn into butterflies, which, to me, are one of the world's most beautiful creation's. eBay allows me to share with the world that Down syndrome is not a burden, it's not contagious. It's a gift. Chloe has quite a following and we hope to continue to open more eyes to what Down syndrome is all about.

4. Do you belong to any boutique group and if so which one?

I am with ODOD.

How did you get started in that group?

It's actually kind of funny. I thought it was a joke. I saw this e-mail in my inbox inviting me to be a member of ODOD. It was from a man's name so of course I thought it was a joke. After reading it several time's I had to call my friend Alicia (mylilpixie), who was already in ODOD at the time, and she said that's Maria (josiekatstrunk) so of course I accepted and that's how that came to be. I STILL pinch myself.

What do you like most about your particular group?

Wow! SO many things. They are an amazing bunch of women and many of them have SO much knowledge so I can always count on someone helping me out when I am in doubt about something or just need a little help or advice.

5. What is your favorite thing to create? (example: vintage style dresses, totes, overalls, etc) Why?

? Looking at my history of my designs I would have to say anything. I like to make different things all the time. I have used vintage materials, chenille, euro designs, Victorian designs, stuffed bears and even made up a few of my own creations along the way. Why? I like to keep people on their toes. Keep them guessing. It keeps me on my toes, too.

6. What are your favorite types of fabrics or fabric designers?

Oooh! Anything that comes from a "real" quilt shop that catches my eye. True quilting materials are always quality materials and that's what I like to give my customer's…Quality.

7. Where and when do you do most of your sewing?

I have a combo sunroom/sewing room. Our goal for 2005 is to build a master suite above the garage and then our bedroom will be converted into my sewing room. My sewing times are Sunday, Monday & Tuesday all day (that's when DH is home) and anytime between 7am-10am or 9pm-2am Wednesday-Saturday. I get about 5 hours of sleep a night. Any more sleep than that and I don't function. Of course, my hours fluctuate. I don't sew the whole time.

Are you neat about it or do you have fabric covering the floor?

Most of the time I am neat. But when it comes to appliqué….WATCH OUT!!! It is a disaster. And that explains why I don't appliqué that often.

8. What other things do you enjoy besides sewing?

Scrabble….I LOVE scrabble. I like to read and spend time with my family. During the day when the older kid's are in school I devote a majority of my time to Chloe. I believe that is why she is advanced as she is. I wouldn't trade that time in a heartbeat.

Anything else you would like to add?

I am starting to set my sights into a boys clothing line. After many, many request's I owe it to my customer's to expand my horizons. Most of all I would like to say thank you for letting me be a part of Journal Modiste and a BIG thank you to ALL my WONDERFUL customer's. And an extra special thank you to Shari for letting me share picture's of Hayden :o)
